This site tracks and analyzes daily post activity across 13 subreddits. I began this analysis after wondering how comparable various political subreddits are in terms of whether posting activity is concentrated among a relatively small number of users. This analysis focuses on posts only and does not account for comments. A five-day reporting lag is applied to allow time for data collection and cleanup. All usernames have been pseudonymized. For more background and information, see the Summary and Methodology pages.

Clustered posting is defined here as three posts by a user within 20 minutes (at most). Posts are evaluated chronologically, assigning groups of 3 posts into bins and then continuing the search for additional clusters. This ensures that each post can only contribute to a single cluster. Clusters are categorized according to the time between the first and third posts. For example, a purple marker in the figure below at '10' indicates that the user had 10 distinct occurrences in which 3 consecutive posts were made within 5 minutes. This analysis includes all posts made by the top 10 users during the last days. Clustered posting may be an indicator that a user is using scheduling software - for example, when a user queues several items (articles or posts) to be published automatically - but it does not necessarily establish that scheduling software was used.
The example posting timeline below shows how posts are categorized into their respective cluster bins. In this example, the user's posts would be categorized as two 0–5-minute clusters , one 5–10-minute cluster , one 10–15-minute cluster , zero 15–20-minute clusters , and two posts that do not fall within a cluster.
